On Prof. Matsusaka's lecture

I attended the final lecture entitled "Learnig Englsih Phonetics from Learners" by Professer Matsusaka. It was held at Waseda University yesterday. Looking back at it, the lecture was just amazing and I was really intrigued by a lot of things. Let me write about two things that stood out.

One is that he cracked jokes many times in his talk. These made all people there laugh out loud. And I thought doing this was one of the most important techniques to get an audience's attention. Having said so, this is not easy for me to put it into practice, still more in English. But I want to give it a try if I have any chance to give a presentation.

The other one is that I was made to realize the importance of using English continuously again. The professor gave his talk all in English and said that he always uses English in class. I felt ashamed of myself and realized that I had to try harder. Then, a phrase by Dr. Tanabe, "If you don't use it, you'll lose it" came to my mind at that time. I would like to step forward by wokring together with my fellows.

Last of all, Thank you so much for this superb day. I enjoyed every single minute in his talk. Truth be told, I think I wish I could have taken his lecture just one more time. After taking part in it, the 90-minute talk made me rethink that I have to improve my English pronuncicaton, the rhythm, and so on much further. (seventh-dan)
