take it with a pinch of saltという表現が気になりました。そのまま直訳すると「1つまみの塩を取る」となりますが，上記ではどのような意味で使用されているのでしょうか。
まず『ジーニアス英和辞典』で調べてみると，take ~ with a pinch[grain] of saltで「〈物・事〉を多少疑って聞く，額面通りにはとらない」とありました。またLDOCEには“to not completely believe what someone tells you, because you know that they do not always tell the truth”と定義されています。
