今回はiron outを紹介します。ここでは動詞として使われています。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』第４版（大修館）には「＜困難・問題など＞を解決する, 取り除く；＜事＞を円滑にする, 片付ける」とあり、例文は “iron out mutual misunderstanding” 「お互いの誤解を解く」とありました。
LDOCEは “to solve or get rid of problems or difficulties especially small ones” と定義されています。
イメージとしては、問題にアイロンをかけて円滑にするといった感じでしょうか。
この記事について、日本のこころである「おもてなし」を環境に対してしていくべきではないでしょうか。以前フィンランドを訪れた時、スーパーはもちろん洋服店でもレジ袋をもらう人はほとんどいませんでした。
これは一人ひとりが意識しなければ解決しない問題であります。「大国」を世界が見つめています。このことを忘れてはいけません。(amphibian)
