recover /rɪkˈʌvɚ/ を取り上げます。「回復する」という意味で覚えていましたが、記事ではどうにも当てはまりません。
『ウィズダム英和辞典』を引いたところ、「〈人が〉≪…から≫〈失ったものなど〉を取り戻す、回収[奪回]する(retrieve)≪from≫」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“to get back something that was taken from you, lost, or almost destroyed”と定義されています。記事では無くなったものを回収したわけではありませんが、おそらく、「押収する」という意味で使われているのではないかと思います。(Blue Sky)
