　今回取り上げる語は、kleptocracy /ˌklɛpˈtɒkrəsɪ/ です。klepto + cracy と分解し、「…な支配社会」と訳すことができますが、klepto がわからなかったので、以下で確認していきます。
　まず意味を Cambridge Dictionary でみると、“a society whose leaders make themselves rich and powerful by stealing from the rest of the people” とあり、Collins Dictionary には “a government where officials are politically corrupt and financially self-interested” と定義されていました。
　次に語源を ONLINE ETYMOLOGY DICTIONARY でみると、“"rule by a class of thieves," 1819, originally in reference to Spain; see kleptomania + -cracy.” とあります。同サイトで klepto を調べたところ、“to steal” と載っていました。
　以上のことから、kleptocracy は「(国の利益を権力者のものにしてしまう)泥棒政治」という意味を持つことがわかりました。(OkaUchi)
