今回はgush /gˈʌʃ/ を紹介します。この語の後ろにoutがあるので「（外へ向かって）飛び出す」という意味を推測しました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』第４版（大修館）には「[…から/…の一面に]どくどく流れ出る」とあります。他にも「[…について]感傷的[おおげさ, うれしそう]にしゃべりたてる」などと表現できます。
定義についてLDOCEでは “if a liquid gushes, it flows or pours out quickly and in large quantities” と記載されていました。
このニュースはUG先生から送られてきたメールで確認しました。地震が発生した時間帯が6日未明とあり、大きな混乱を招いたことが記事から伺えます。
