On Prof. Matsusaka's lecture
Let me write about Prof. Matsusaka’s lecture.
His lecture was really easy to understand for me because he explained English phonetics in comparison with Japanese counterparts by using such plops as a model of the mouth, a diagram and so on. I wish I could listen more.
In a nutshell he brought the study of phonetics closer to our reality. And, all of us present realized that learning English sounds is not that difficult as we usually imagine.
In addition, I really enjoyed his way style of speaking, with a crisp touch of an Edokko accent. I was indeed enthralled by his talk!
Also, I was impressed by one of my fellow members, amphibian. In a Q & A time, she plucked up her courage to ask him a question in English, in front of some 140 students!
I had a question myself, however I was not able to do it because I have no confidence of my English. Need to learn the language more and more so that I can shoot a question whenever I want to do.
All in all, it was an excellent lecture, and I’m thankful to Prof. Matsusaka for giving up his time for us. (Otoyo)
