brainchild 復習

The show was the brainchild of kimono shop owner Yoshimasa Takakura, 50, who started the Kimono Project in summer 2014 with the goal of creating kimono and matching obi sashes for each of the 196 countries that will participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

気になったのはbrainchildです。brain「脳」とchild「子ども」にからできた単語なので「クリエイティブ」といった意味が合いそうです。『ジーニアス英和辞典』を参照すると「頭脳の産物，独創的な考え」とありました。

LDOCEでは“an idea, plan, organization etc that someone has thought of without any help from anyone else”と定義されています。またcreativeの定義も確認すると“involving the use of imagination to produce new ideas or things”とあるので、こちらは頭の中で考えたことだけを指しているところで少しニュアンスの違いを感じました。
