熊本地震で被災した、熊本城の復旧基本計画が正式に決定されました。
Kumamoto Prefecture and the central government have officially decided on a 20-year plan to restore an iconic castle in southwestern Japan. It was severely damaged by a series of strong earthquakes in 2016.
Under the plan, Kumamoto Castle will be repaired by fiscal 2037. The castle consists of a main tower, stone walls, and other buildings.
The main tower will be protected by cutting-edge equipment to absorb shaking of the ground. The keep and its sub-tower will be repaired early. The authorities seek to reopen them to the public in around 3 years.
