相撲のスキャンダルに目が行きがちですが、場所そのものにも注目しましょう。

今回はtooterに注目します。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、「シーソーをする」、「（落下しそうに）ぐらつく（along）」、「[…に]ためらう[on, between]」などと載っておりました。Oxford Dictionary of English (2th)には、 “move or balance unsteadily; sway back and forth”と書かれております。
以上から、土俵のギリギリで攻めあっている状況が目に浮かびます。
ちなみに語源は古ノルウェー語のtitraで、 “shake, shiver”つまり「揺れる，震える」などの意味だったそうです。（Gomez）
