daycareを取り上げます。『ジーニアス英和辞典』で調べると、「（働いている親のための）子供の世話、保育;老人［身体障害者］介護」とありました。LDOCEでは”when babies or young children, or sick or old people are looked after during the day, especially while their family members are at work”と定義されていました。またdaycareにcentre/service/facilitiesを付けて「保育所」という意味になりますが、上記のようにdaycareだけで保育所を指すこともあるようです。(Kiwi girl)
