Disney to feature first gay scene in 'Beauty and the Beast'
LONDON —
Disney will feature its first gay scene when a character is seen struggling with his sexuality in the live-action remake of “Beauty and the Beast,” according to the film’s director.
The film’s stars will be heterosexual - British actors Emma Watson and Dan Stevens play the title roles - and manservant LeFou, sidekick to the film’s macho main man Gaston, will grapple with his own sexuality.
“sidekick”は『ジーニアス英和辞典』によると「親友，仲間，助手」「共謀者」とありました。ル・フウがガストンの右腕的存在で、ガストンのためなら何でもすると豪語するキャラクターだそうです。LDOCEでは“someone who spends time with or helps another person, especially when that other person is more important than they are”と定義がありますが、映画でははっきりとLGBTQとして描かれ、監督もあるインタビューの中で「ル・フウはいつかガストンのようになりたいと思いながらも、その一方でガストンにキスをしたいと思っている。」と述べられていました。(lua)
