Cases of infectious gastroenteritis caused by norovirus and other pathogens are rampant.
The National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) announced this week that the average number of patients per medical institution nationwide has exceeded the “alert level” of 20 patients per week.
This level is the second highest since the current aggregation method was introduced in 1999. The highest was during a major epidemic in 2006.
