舛添氏の政治資金問題から始まった今回の都知事選。一体どのような結果になるのでしょうか。

These are some of the comments that have been flung in what has become one of the most negative campaigns of recent years in Japan.
Twenty-one people will be running for Tokyo's top job in Sunday's election and former
defence and environment minister Yuriko Koike is currently considered to be in the lead.
She would become Tokyo's first female governor if elected.
But unusually, Ms Koike's party - the ruling Liberal Democrat Party (LDP) - has chosen not to back her, in favour of Hiroya Masuda, a former governor of the Iwate prefecture between 1995 and 2007, who isn't a party member.

今回取り上げる単語は、hawkishです。
Oxford Dictionary of English (Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)には、 “resembling a hawk in nature or appearance”、 “advocating an aggressive or warlike policy, especially in foreign affairs”と載っておりました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、「タカ派の，好戦的な」と記載されておりました。
お恥ずかしいことに「タカ派（鷹派）」の意味が分からなかったので、『デジタル大辞泉』（小学館）で調べたところ、「相手とは妥協せず、自分の主張を貫くために、強硬に事を運ぼうとする立場に立つ人」とのことでした。
ちなみに反対語は「ハト派」で、英語だと “dovish”となります。（『ジーニアス英和辞典用例プラス対応』大修館）
文中では “hawkish man”と記載されておりますが、男性のことを指しているのではなく小池氏のことを指しています。小池氏の内なる男っぽさを彷彿させます。（Gomez）
