go-ahead goal 復習
朝のゼミ活動でも少し話題になりました。

Though extremely joyful, that was some intense shrieking. But how could you not get caught up in the excitement of a 3-on-2 streak down the field, anticipating a go-ahead goal for your home country? The announcer was at a high screaming pitch before Elmar Bjarnason’s cross pass even reached Traustason to tap into the goal. It’s just glorious stuff, and affirmation for how fun watching sports and a victory for your country on the biggest stage can be.

今回取り上げる表現は、” go-ahead goal”です。
手持ちの辞書には定義が載っていなかったため、インターネットで検索してみました。
Urban Dictionaryによると、”The goal that puts the scoring team ahead in a game(breaking a tie). Commonly heard during soccer matches and hockey games.”とのことでした。
またWorldReference.comには、” A "go-ahead goal" is a goal that breaks a tie score. For instance, if the score was one-one, and one of the teams scored to make it two-one, the last goal would be the go-ahead goal, because it put their team ahead.”と載っておりました。
以上をふまえ意味を理解すると、「決勝点」という意味になるかと思います。上記の通り、サッカーやホッケーで使用されているようです。
