Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s reshuffled Cabinet was launched Wednesday, with key ministers including Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso as well as Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga retaining their posts.
Nine posts were given to first-time ministers, including Hiroshi Moriyama as the agriculture, forestry and fisheries minister. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato serves as minister in charge of promoting dynamic engagement of all citizens, a post that Abe launched as part of his policy to spur growth.

今回は“inaugurated”について、取り上げます。『新英和中辞典』によると、inaugurateで「(重要な人を)就任させる」「新時代を開始する」とありました。語源がラテン語で「占いによってことを始める」とあり、詳しく調べてみたところ、語中のaugurには「古代のローマの宮殿、占い師」という意味があり、そこから占いの結果良い前兆が起こるというような表現が含まれていることがわかり、占いは関係しているのかはわかりませんが、安倍総理を支えてきた人々によって、第3次安倍内閣も良い形で発足されたというニュアンスが感じられました。(lua)
