armistice 復習
北朝鮮が韓国に対して準戦争状態にあると声明を出しました。国境付近では，双方が砲撃を行ったそうです。
記事の中で気になった単語は"armistice"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版』（三省堂）によると「休戦[停戦]協定; 休戦, 停戦」などという意味がありました。停戦というと"ceasefire"が浮かびましたので違いを調べてみました。ODによると"armistice""An agreement made by opposing sides in aは， war to stop fighting for a certain time; a truce"と定義されているのに対して，"ceasefire"は，"A temporary suspension of fighting; a truce"とあります。どちらも同じような意味に見えますが，"armistice"のほうは"An agreement"とあり，戦闘停止について，双方が協定や取り決めを行っているのに対して，"ceasefire"は，一時的に戦闘が停止した状況を指すようです。（Ume）
