政府の男女共同参画会議は、さらなる女性の活躍を推進するために、選挙で候補者の一定割合を女性に割り当てる「クオータ制」の導入を検討することを決定しました。

Gov't panel to advise political parties to introduce quotas for female candidates

The government's Council for Gender Equality on June 22 proposed a plan to promote quotas for female candidates among political parties as part of measures for encouraging the active participation of women in society.
To improve the environment for women's active participation, the council requested related ministers, including labor and finance ministers, to promptly work on the establishment of gender-impartial tax and pension systems as the current framework, such as tax deductions for spouses under a certain income level, is said to hold back women from advancing in the workforce.
In addition, the council decided that it will continue with advising Cabinet ministers on mapping out a draft budget each year.

今回取り上げるのは、“map out”という表現です。LDOCEで調べてみると、“to plan carefully how something will happen”という定義が載っていました。さらに『ジーニアス英和辞典G4 大修館書店』では、「〈事〉の詳細な計画を立てる、〈計画など〉を精密に作成する」といった意味を見つけました。
