Exiled Japanese Christian feudal lord to be beatified

Exiled Japanese Christian feudal lord Takayama Ukon (1552-1615) is expected to soon be beatified by the Catholic Church, after a Vatican committee on June 18 gave approval for the beatification to proceed.
The matter will be sent for authorization by Vatican cardinals and by Pope Francis, and an announcement is expected sometime between December this year and January 2016, while the beatification is planned to take place in Japan that year. The Pope told Japanese bishops this past March that he would like to attend if he can.
