NBA Western Conference決勝第4戦はthe Houston Rocketsがthe Golden State Warriorsを128-115で下し，対戦成績を1勝3敗としました。その試合中，Golden StateのエースガードStephen Curry選手が背中から床に落ち，治療のためにロッカールームに下がるというアクシデントが発生。大事には至らなかったものの，このことがきっかけでWarriorsは主導権を相手に譲ってしまいました。
今回採り上げるのはlone victoryという表現。loneは「単独の, 孤立した〈人物など〉; 独りの, 孤独の」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）という意味ですが，ここでは「唯一の」という意味で用いられていると考えられます。よって，ここでのlone victoryは「不幸中の幸い」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）

Houston Remains Alive, and Curry Survives a Scare
HOUSTON — Stephen Curry felt as if he was in the air forever. He was simply trying to make a play on the ball when Trevor Ariza pump-faked underneath the Houston Rockets’ basket. But Curry, the star of the Golden State Warriors, went up and over, sliding off the back of Ariza like an egg on a skillet before tumbling to the court at Toyota Center.
The crowd gasped Monday night when Curry landed on the back of his head in the second quarter, and for several moments, as medical personnel attended to Curry, it all seemed so uncertain: the Warriors’ scintillating playoff run, their championship aspirations, their goal of closing out the Rockets with a sweep in the Western Conference finals.
After disappearing to the locker room for about an hour, Curry eventually returned to the game. But that was the lone victory for the Warriors on a night when everything else went wrong.
