ギリシャでは，EU諸国への債務返済，または借入継続の承認を受ける期限が近づいております。ギリシャは2月の時点で，債務の返済を6月まで引き伸ばす合意を受けております。しかし，財政状況は好転するわけでもなく，次の期限が迫っております。現与党の急進左派連合は反緊縮財政を掲げることで政権を握ったわけですが，EU諸国ではこの政策に否定的であり，緊縮財政をしなければ厳しい態度を取る構えです。国内の支持を得るか，国外の支持を得るのかという局面に，ギリシャ政府は立たされております。しかし，このまま国内の支持率だけを考えていれば最悪デフォルトしてしまう可能性があるため，国内の改革は必須であると思います。
記事の中で気になった表現は"drag one's feet"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版』（三省堂）によると「足を引きずる」という意味があります。ここから転じて，「(わざと)ぐずぐず（のろのろ）する」と派生するようです（Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English）。また，Longman Dictionary of Contemporary Englishの定義には，"drag your feet/heels""to take too much time to do something because you do not want to do it"のように，"feet"だけでなく"heels"も使われております。（Ume）
Greece seeks eurozone recognition of economic progress
The government is urgently seeking the final €7,2bn (£5.2bn; $8bn) tranche of its €240bn IMF/EU bailout in an attempt to stay afloat and reports say Mr Tsipras wants at least part of it to be released immediately.
Last week Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis told the BBC that he did not expect a deal to be agreed on Monday but said agreement could be reached "within the next couple of weeks or so".
Mr Varoufakis also accused the eurozone of dragging its feet.
"Europe works in glacial ways, and eventually does the right thing after it has tried all alternatives."
