Glico runner signboard in Osaka to be refurbished
A landmark neon billboard in Osaka's Minami district featuring a runner in an advertisement for Ezaki Glico Co. will be revamped due to deterioration, the company announced on April 3.
The confectionery giant has maintained five versions of the flamboyant billboard along the Dotonbori River over the course of nearly 80 years, attracting a constant throng of tourists. The new signboard will be more eco-friendly, using LED bulbs, while retaining the beloved runner icon.

個人的な話ですが，flamboyantを最初に知ったのは「有名人の派手な生活」（flamboyant life）というような文脈でしたので，もっぱらそちらのイメージで押さえていました。
しかしながら，元々はflameを意味するフランス語由来の単語ですので，記事の「派手な」「けばけばしい」（？）の方が元々の意味なのですね。脳内辞書の記述を改めておきます。（GP）
