まもなく開催される2013年の東京モーターショー。今回のショーで日本企業が力を入れているのがfuel cell vehicleです。fuel cell vehicle（FCV）は「燃料電池車」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）のことを指し，「水素と酸素を化学反応させて電気をつくる燃料電池を動力源」（「トヨタ企業サイトFCV」）として走ります。
現時点ではエコカーというと低燃費の軽自動車やPHV（Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle），EV（Electric Vehicle）が主流ですが，これらに続くエコカーとして期待されているFCVの時代はすぐそこまで来ているのかもしれません。（Koyamamoto）

Tokyo show to feature new eco-cars
Japanese automakers will offer insights into the next generation of eco-friendly vehicles at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from Nov. 22 through Dec. 1.
Toyota Motor Corp. will debut its FCV Concept, a prototype fuel cell vehicle that the company plans to release in Japanese, U.S. and European markets in 2015.
Honda Motor Co. will showcase its FCX Clarity, a fuel cell vehicle currently available for lease in Japan and the United States, at a joint booth with Sekisui House Ltd. and Toshiba Corp. The carmaker will demonstrate how the vehicle’s battery can be used to supply external power to the home.
