またまたNY DAILY NEWSから取り上げます。
ロンドンマラソンの警備が今回のボストンマラソンと同じような悲劇が起きないよう強化されたそうです。
その時見つけた言葉です。
Police in London have almost doubled security for Sunday’s marathon following the Boston bombings to ensure there is no repeat of the savagery.Scotland Yard revealed that several hundred more officers will be patrolling the streets to prevent any threat to the 33rd running of the event.There will be increased searches and more sniffer dogs to detect explosives.

今回注目するのはsniffer dogです。
意味は、snifferで「麻薬を鼻から吸いこむ、（犬が）クンクン嗅ぐ」ということなので、K-9 unitの「（麻薬や爆発物などを探す）捜索犬」のことです（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第四版、大修館）。
ほかにもsniff aroundで「情報を探し回る」という意味になるのでこちらも押さえておきたいです。(Sugar）
