ボストンの爆弾事件の容疑者とみられる弟が確保されました。市民もほっと一安心でしょう。記事はそのちょっと前のものですが、以前取り上げた a swath of~がまた目に留まりました。

前回もそうでしたが、この表現、アメリカ的といえばそうですが、爆弾との関連で使われることが多いような気がしております。誰か調べてみませんか。（UG）

Boston Suspect Remains at Large; Lockdown Is Lifted

The manhunt for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, which shut down a large swath of the metropolitan area for much of the day and prompted a door-to-door search, continued into the early evening on Friday.

Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts said the lockdown for residents of Boston and its neighboring communities had been lifted, but he urged caution. Mass transit service has also resumed, he said.

Investigators tried to piece together a fuller picture of the man, Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who they said were responsible for setting off the deadly marathon blasts.
