赤字で示したlift the lid onは、しばしばblow (take) the lid offというかたちで使われます。ここで使われるlidは「蓋」を意味し、もちろん比喩的な表現で使われています。take the lid off/ lift the lid on定義についてLDOCEでは“to let people know the true facts about a bad or shocking situation”とあります。『リーダーズ英和辞典』では、「《醜聞・不法行為などを》世間にばらす；すっぱ抜く」とあります。
次のglass ceilingは何度かブログでも扱われています。意味は「昇進などを阻む、目に見えない偏見や障害、壁」のことです。とくに社会やコミュニティのなかで立場の弱い者に対し使われる表現であるようです。
ちなみに見出しのSkreamとBengaは2000年代中盤にアンダーグラウンドシーンで流行ったDub-stepの名トラックメイカーです。記事にもありますが、Croydonにあるクラブは日々新しいトラックを作り続けるDJやトラックメイカーがひしめいており、切磋琢磨しています。(Othello)
