Yu Darvish’s move to the Major League Baseball (MLB) and his spectacular debut have sparked the interest Japanese show to the U.S. league, but the feeling is not exactly mutual.

Even if the transfer of the Japanese pitcher has been a good marketing move, pushing up T-shirt sales and increasing the number of Japanese tourists in Texas, where Darvish plays for the Texas Rangers, the MLB is looking towards another foreign market, the one with the biggest potential of all – China.

本論には関係はないものの、「Tシャツの売り上げをのばす」という箇所で使われているpush upは私には使えそうでなかなか出て来ないPVです。「上向きに押す」というのが語義ですが、salesのような目的語がくる場合にはなるほどわかりやすい言い方です。日本人ならinceraseというbig wordを持ってきがちでしょうね。ちなみに名詞 push-upは腕立て伏せです。（GP）
