bring chickens home to roostは，one’s chickens have come home to roost「過去の悪行が自分に返ってきた」の少し形を変えたものです。chickenはご存知のとおり，「臆病者」という意味，come home to roostは「（嫌なことが）自分にはね返ってくる」という意味です（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。
自国の経済のことしか考えないSustained lower pricesという政策は，いつかしっぺ返しを食らうことでしょう。中国が国を代表するchickenである北京ダックを食べられなくなる経済状況になってしまうかも知れませんね。（Sugiuchi）
