二つのking

昨日のDY(10/1018付)のBUSINESS欄，羽田空港に関する記事から落ち穂拾いをしていきます。以下の2つの文章に出てくるkingに注目です。
The king of heavily discounted fares associated with budget airlines in the United States and Europe due to high operating costs.
While convenience is king, airlines will also be eyeing an opportunity to navigate out of the doldrums of the demand-sapping financial crisis and tap into a booming regional aviation market, say analysts.
1つ目のkingは，the king of beasts「百獣の王」で有名であり，「《同種の中の》王の名にふさわしいもの，至高のもの，代表するもの」の意味で使われるkingです。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(三省堂)
今回注目するのはこの2つ目のkingです。この場合では，1番目の用法以外にkingが持つ「多大な影響を持つ[与える]もの」『ウィズダム英和辞典』(三省堂)の意味が用いられています。上記の文脈とこの用法から，「サービスがとても重要視されているなか，」のように解釈できるのではないでしょうか。(ゼミ生cherry-well)
