ここでの注目表現はon the horizonです。直訳すると「水平線上」ですが，一体どのような意味になるのでしょうか。辞書を引いてみると「今にも起りそうで」とありました（『オーレックス英和辞典』旺文社）。なるほど，この表現からは何か新たな物事が水平線上で，今か今かと顔をのぞかせているような情景が想像できますね。上記の英文では，「新たなスタートを切ろうとしているところで」のように，解釈できそうです。（ゼミ生persimmon柿生）
