山手線渋谷駅のホームにあった、「どんばれ屋」という日清食品のカップ麺の「どん兵衛」がその場で食べられる飲食店が閉店したそうです。店内の窓際には書き置きがひっそりと残されており、店側の本音が漏れているとTwitterで話題になっています。

“struck a chord with”を取りあげます。「楽器を使って和音を奏でる」という意味もありますが、人の心の琴線に触れるということから『ジーニアス英和辞典』によると「…の共感を得る」とありました。LDOCEでは“ to do or say something that people feel is familiar or true”とあります。共感するというとsympathize with という表現もあるかと思いますが、“ to feel sorry for someone because you understand their problems”と“to support someone's ideas or actions”と２つ定義があり、同情の意味での共感というニュアンスがあることがわかりました。(lua)
