debunk 復習
今年，世界で話題となったいくつかの写真を振り返っております。ただし，ここで扱われている写真はただの写真ではなく，偽物であったり，判断を誤らせるために使われたものです。たとえば，4月に発生したネパール大地震の被害を示すために，2人の幼い兄弟が抱き合っている姿を映した写真がfacebookやtwitterで公開されました。しかし，この写真は2007年に撮られたもので，地震とは全く関係のないものであることが判明しました。他にも，ドイツ人夫婦が妻の浮気を原因で離婚した際，自動車や家電などの資産を半分に切って，夫と妻で分け合ったという話がありましたが，これも企業が広告のためにやった行為です。
記事の中で気になった単語は"debunk"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版』（三省堂）によると「＜通説＞の誤りを指摘する，…の正体を暴く, 仮面をはぐ; …をすっぱ抜く」などという意味がありました。ODには"Expose the falseness or hollowness of (an idea or belief)"と定義されております。インターネットは情報をたくさん手に入れることができますが，情報の裏付けが難しいですね。(Ume)

In 2015, many pictures and videos went viral, some for all the wrong reasons.
There were deliberate fakes created to deceive the public and then there were misleading images shared, often during breaking news situations, that were entirely unrelated to the story.
