If you’re suffering from spring allergies, don’t complain.
Pollen counts in New York City are surprisingly low for this time of year.
“The first week in May is usually the heaviest, and it’s not that high,” said Guy Robinson, a lecturer at Fordham University who compiles Manhattan’s pollen data for the National Allergy Bureau.
On Monday, there were 100 pollen grains per cubic meter of air. “Normally by this time, we’re running into the thousands,” Mr. Robinson said.
The cause: this year’s cold spring.
We could still make up for lost time.
spring allergiesは間違いなく「花粉症」のことですね。allergiesと複数になっているのも英語らしい。pollen allergies というやや医学的な言い方よりもこっちの方が日常的なのかも。（厳密には違うのかもしれませんが...）。もちろんhay feverもありますが...。
緯度が日本とは違いますので、NY ではこれからがallergiesの本番のようです。（UG）
