Ozawa and Hatoyama's latest shenanigans highlight pathetic state of Japanese politics
I'm deeply puzzled by former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama. How does he think he can get away with proclaiming -- just two days after he'd announced his support for Prime Minister Naoto Kan -- that he would devote himself to the worthy cause of getting former DPJ Secretary-General Ichiro Ozawa elected as party president?
In response to the public's growing distrust as a result of scandals involving money politics, Hatoyama stepped down from his post as prime minister in June, bringing then Secretary-General Ozawa down with him. How Hatoyama justifies lending support for Ozawa to become the next prime minister only 85 days after the dual resignation is a mystery to me.
