今回取り上げるのはveracity /vərˈæsəṭi/ です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』で調べたところ「正直さ，誠実さ」「本当のこと，真実」とありました。LDOCEには“the fact of being true or correct”と定義されています。
ここで他の「誠実さ」を表す形容詞と比べてみます。まずhonestyは“not hiding the truth or the facts about something”とありました。またsincereは“a feeling, belief, or statement that is sincere is honest and true, and based on what you really feel and believe”と定義されています。以上からあまり他の形容詞との差は見られませんでした。しかし過去のブログを確認するとveracityはより法的な領域に入った「真実性，真偽」とありました。
