取り上げるのはgarner /ˈɡɑːnə/ です。文脈から「集める」とあります。『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)では「(情報・支持など)を得る、集める、...を収穫して穀物倉に蓄える、穀物倉庫、蓄積、蓄え」とあります。
また、LDOCEでは “to take or collect something, especially information or support” と定義されています。例文にはNevertheless, there is some inspiration to be garnered from this book.やBut all the information garnered was kept.が記載されています。Oxford Living Dictionariesで語源を調べるとMiddle English (originally as a noun): from Old French gernier, from Latin granarium ‘granary’, from granum ‘grain’.とありました。
