At the heart of “Isekai Izakaya” is a Japanese-style gastropub in Kyoto called Izakaya Nobu that has a portal to a parallel medieval universe. Many of the izakaya’s patrons, including palace guards, craftsmen, clergymen and noblemen from the alternate world, are surprised at the unusual food and drinks served at the establishment.
Sunrise, based in Suginami Ward, Tokyo, is well known as the maker of the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series and other popular works. During the creation of the animation, the studio tried its best to depict the dishes served at the fictional izakaya.

本日取り上げるのは“patron” / ˈpeɪtrən /です。パトロンというカタカナは聞いたことがあったのですが、いまいち意味がわからないまま過ごしてきて、今日この単語に出会ったので取り上げました。(『ジーニアス英和辞典第五版』大修館)によると「後援者、ひいき客、顧客(=custumer)、支援する有名人」とありました。この内容が寂れた商店街の中になぜか古都と繋がる道があり、そこからたくさんのお客さんがやってくるというお話なので“patrons, including〜”のところに役職の名前が書いてあるのだなと納得しました。(Creative)
