The popular novel and comic “Isekai Izakaya Nobu,” which has sold a combined 1.5 million copies, has been made into an animation that was released at home and abroad on April 13 via online video websites.

今回はgastropubを紹介します。聞いたことのある単語ですが、詳しく調べてみます。
『ジーニアス英日辞典』第４版（大修館）は「高級[高品質な]料理を出すパブ」とありました。この単語はgastronomy「美食」＋pub「居酒屋」が組み合わさってできた言葉です。

語源はラテン語のgastroで「胃」を意味します。こレから派生した単語でgastroenteritis「胃腸炎」があります。

余談になりますが、gastropubはイギリスが発祥です。昔はイギリスの食べ物が美味しくないとされていましたが、gastropubの出現により丁寧に作った美味しい昼食や夕食が食べられるようになったそうです。(amphibian)
