小澤征爾さんが自身の心臓の病気を理由に3月に開催予定のコンサートの出演を取り止めることがわかりました。
Japanese maestro Seiji Ozawa has cancelled all his musical activities during March to undergo treatment for a heart problem.
Ozawa's office says the 82-year-old conductor has been in hospital since late February. He was diagnosed with a narrowing of a valve opening in his heart. The disorder blocks blood flow to the aorta and then the rest of the body.
The office says that Ozawa was scheduled to conduct 4 times this month for an opera project involving his music academy. He will be replaced by another conductor.
Ozawa also had to cancel a speech at an opera event for children.
He issued a statement expressing his regret and apologizing to people who had been looking forward to the events.

aorta /eiɔ́ːrtə/ をつり上げます。『ジーニアス英和辞典第5版』(大修館) によると「大動脈」とありました。次に『ケンブリッジ英英辞典』をみると “the main artery (= thick tube carrying blood from the heart)that takes blood to the other parts of the body” 血液を心臓から流し体全体に血液を運ぶ役割を担う (人の) 体の器官を指していることがわかります。
“aorta” は「吊るされるもの、運ばれるもの」といった意義のある “aort” から来ています（英辞郎 on the web） 。
小澤征爾さんは長野県松本市で毎年夏に「サイトウキネンオーケストラ」という特別なオーケストラを組んでコンサートを行ったりと精力的に活動しているので少し心配になります。(Happidra)
