韓国の大統領と北朝鮮の金正恩委員長による二国間会議が春に行われる見通しとなりました。

It will be the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries for more than a decade.
The two men will meet on the heavily fortified border next month, at the truce village of Panmunjom. The two countries also agreed to open a hotline between the leaders.
The trip was part of a wave of rapprochement moves surrounding last month's Winter Olympics.

“rapprochement” /ˌræp.roʊʃˈmɑːŋ/ に注目しました。『ジーニアス英和辞典第5版』(大修館) によると「(国家間の)友好関係樹立、親交回復」とあります。
Cambridge Dictionaryを見てみると “an agreement reached by opposing groups or people” と定義されていて対立軸にあった団体や反対の関係にあった人物と接触を図る様を表していることがわかります。
“rapprochement” はもともとフランス語で「呼び寄せる、結び会わせる」という意義のある “rapprocher” から来ていることがインターネット上に記載されていました。また以前、上村先生が授業でおっしゃっていたことですが、主に対話ではレポートトーク “report talk” (情報や事実を忠実に述べる話の仕方) と、相手との協調や親密さを重んじることを優先し相槌などを通して相手の情緒に入り込む話し方のラポートーク (rapport talk) の二つに分けることができるそうです。この “rapport” もフランス語の “rapprocher” から派生したとものだそうです。
先日の平壌オリンピックが契機となり今回の二国間会談が行われる運びとなったようです。朝鮮半島の合一の日もそんなに遠くないかもしれません。(happidra)
