slam into 復習
1月15日で、軽井沢バス転落事故からちょうど2年が経過しました。事故現場では遺族や関係者の方々が手を合わせ、献花をしました。

気になった単語は“slam into”です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館）を参照すると、「...に衝突する」とありました。よって本文では「山のガードレールに衝突した」となりますね。“slam”の単語には多くの意味が存在し、ドラマやアニメのタイトルなどにも使われています。例えば、バスケットボールのマンガのタイトルは「スラムダンク」ですね。これは相手ゴールの周りに敵チームの人がいなくて、確実にダンクシュートで点を取ることを言います。その場合は“slam”は「〈シュートなど〉を強く打つ」という意味です。ちなみに“slam-dunk”は動詞として使われ、“slam dunk”は名詞として使われています。(Large Lake)
