　沖縄ではまたもや米軍のヘリコプターが緊急着陸し、現地の方々を騒がせました。

　気になった単語は“crippled”です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館）を参照すると、「〈機械などが〉壊れた、〈人が〉（体の一部に）障害のある」とありました。また、“cripple”で、「身体障がい者」という意味の名詞にもなります。しかしこの類の単語は今日では差別用語として扱われているらしく、代わりにdisable personやphysically challenged personなどが使われることが多いそうです。（Oh 5）
