It has a much larger space for pedestrians now and has strips of grass planted either side of the granite paving and a pool of water to be prepared in summer.
Zelkova trees are planted on the northern and southern sides of the central square, whose exterior spaces is open to fixed route buses and taxis.

zelkova /ˈzel-kə-və , zel-ˈkō-və/ \を取り上げます。なにかの木の種類であることが、文脈から読み取れます。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）を引いたところ、「ケヤキ類」と載っております。インターネット辞書サイトDictionary.com調べたところ、 “any of several trees of the genus Zelkova, native to Asia, related to and resembling the elms.”と書かれておりました。
また語源の説明として、 “< New Latin (1841) < Russian dzélʾkva, dzélʾkova, presumably < a language of Transcaucasia, where the tree is native” と載っておりました。音の響きが、何となくロシアっぽい感じがします。(Gomez)
