　“hereditary”/hɪrédətèri/を取り上げます。『ウィズダム英和辞典』を引いたところ、「遺伝的な、遺伝(性)の」や「(称号などが)世襲の、親譲りの、代々の」とありました。この記事では後者の意味で使われているものと思われます。確認のためにLDOCEも引いたところ、“a hereditary position, rank, or title can be passed from an older to a younger person in the same family, usually when the older one dies”と定義されていました。
