　気になった単語は“cumulonimbus”です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館）を参照すると、「積乱雲」と載っていました。これの語源はラテン語であり、「堆積」を意味するの“cumulus”と「雨雲」を意味する“nimbus”が合わさってできたものです。“cumulus”が含まれる単語としては、“accumulate”やなどがありますね。ちなみに、他にもこれが含まれている雲の名前は多くあり、“altocumulus”「高積雲」、“cirrocumulus”「巻積雲」、“cumulostratus”「層積雲」などはその例です。(Large Lake)
