spree /spriː/ が気になったので調べてみました。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、「浮かれ騒ぎ；酒盛り；どんちゃん騒ぎ」などと載っておりました。『新英和辞典』（第6版，研究社）には、「（反社会的な）集中行動」とも書かれておりました。またOxford Dictionary of English (2nd Edition)によると、 “a spell or sustained period of unrestrained activity of a particular kind”と定義されておりました。
この記事ではhe has gone on a killing spreeと書かれているため、「虐殺行為に及んだ」のような意味になるかと思います。
ちなみにshopping spreeで「派手な金遣い」という意味にもなるようです。（Gomez）
