Malicious ‘leech site’ shut down after manga piracy probe
A popular website that pointed manga fans to pirated versions of hit titles available for free online has been shut down after police searched the premises related to its operators, investigative sources said.
Haruka Yume no Ato, which listed Internet addresses hosting unauthorized copies of such blockbusters as “Detective Conan,” “Dragon Ball” and “One Piece,” was so well-known among manga fans that its closure caused an uproar on the Internet.
Police in eight prefectures, including Osaka, Kanagawa, Saitama and Fukuoka, searched the homes and offices of individuals apparently involved on suspicion of violation of the Copyright Law on July 19.

Publishing industry sources said the website was the "most malicious" leech site. It is believed to have offered links to more than 100,000 pirated manga titles.

“leech site” を取り上げます。インターネットのある特定のサイトのことをさしているのだろうと思いました。leechを『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版 研究社）で調べると「1ひる（吸盤でくっついて吸血する小動物） 2（軽蔑的）他人にたかる者」とありました。このことから、 “leech site” とは人がそのサイト見たさに大勢集まってくるようなサイトのことではないかと思いました。
日本語ではどのように言うのかインターネットで探してみると、そのままカタカナで「リーチサイト」とありました。これは、誘導サイトのことで、著作権者の許可なしでネット上にアップされた作品にネット利用者を誘導するためのURLを集めたもののことだとわかりました。今回閉鎖されたリーチサイトは、「名探偵コナン」や「ドラゴンボール」などの人気漫画の海賊版が違法に投稿されたサイトが数多く集められていたとのことです。（aqua）
