leave yourself extra time

　トランプ大統領が久しぶりにTrump Towerに「里帰り」でした関係で周辺の警戒が厳重になり、５７番東地区では交通規制が行われ、渋滞が懸念されているという記事からです。

Expect heavy traffic around East 57th Street and Fifth Avenue.

The Police Department and Transportation Department are encouraging drivers to use public transportation instead.
If you do decide to drive near there, you may be stopped for a random vehicle inspection at Police Department and Secret Service checkpoints. So leave yourself extra time. Fifth Avenue will remain open, but prepare for temporary closures at any time.

　leave yourself extra timeは一見なんでもないフレーズかもしれませんが、日本語でいうところの「時間に余裕をもってお出かけください」に相当する表現だと思いました。
　extra time自体は「延長戦」ですが、これにleaveをもってきてこのように表現するところが英語的だと感じました。辞書、ネットともにヒットはありませんが、ただネット辞書に、"I don't leave any extra time." （時間にはまったく余裕がない。）というのがありました。(Hapidra)
