SENDAI -- A 3-year-old boy died after being left in a car parked in front of his grandparents' home here on Aug. 2, apparently as his grandmother forgot him in the vehicle for some five hours.
Masato Takei's grandmother, aged 67, found the boy limp and unresponsive in the car at about 2 p.m. and called emergency services. Masato likely died of heatstroke, and Miyagi Prefectural Police are investigating the incident as a possible case of negligence resulting in death.
