今回注目した単語は、firewaterです。火と水という対極のものが一つになっているところに興味を持ちました。
Oxford Dictionary of English(Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)によると、 “strong alcoholic liquor”と定義されております。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、「火酒，強い酒」と載っておりました。特にウィスキー、ジンやラムなどを指すようです。
